In the Middle Ages, numerous rockshafts and vaults were dug into the local red sandstone for the purpose of keeping the beer cold.
Today, there is a maze of shafts that extends over three levels. You can tour these vaults and learn about the art of beer making at the Museum of the Old Town Breweries. Also on exhibit is a small distillery.
