Eight family-operated breweries along the Aischgrund in the Steigerwald Forest have developed this route to showcase the beer heritage of the region.
It doesn’t matter whether you like to explore the Aischgrund and its breweries on foot or by bicycle. Between the towns of Bad Windsheim and Uehlfeld are the beer bicycle trail and the beer hiking trail, both of which are marked very well and don’t require a map to follow. Of course, you can also book a guided tour, ranging in duration from one to three days. More than 20 inns are located along the Aischgrund Beer Road, so you don’t have to worry about going hungry. Between April and September, be sure to try the local delicacy Aischgrund Carp to go with your Aischgrund beer.
Length: Bicycle trail 55 km, hiking trail 50 km.
Breweries along the route: Bad Windsheimer Bürgerbräu (Bad Windsheim), Brauhaus Döbler (Bad Windsheim), Hausbrauerei Kohlenmühle (Neustadt/Aisch), Brauerei Windsheimer (Gutenstetten), Brauerei-Gasthof Prechtel (Uehlfeld), Brauerei Zwanzger (Uehlfeld), Brauerei Loscher (Münchsteinach), Privatbrauerei Hofmann (Pahres).
